Alan Wong, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Wong joined Aavid in 2007 as President and Chief Executive Officer. He brings to Aavid over 20 years of hands-on management experience in the design and manufacture of technology products (including flexible printed circuits & assemblies, hermetic seals & connectors, micro-electronic packages, solar PV cells and modules) for major OEM’s in the U.S. and around the globe, with extensive product and market knowledge in a wide range of high-reliability, high-precision applications in computers, consumer electronics, telecommunication, automotive, military-aerospace, industrial, medical, power and energy. Mr. Wong started his professional career at one of the “Big Four” international consulting/accounting firms in Los Angeles and was president and CEO of Parlex Corporation in Massachusetts prior to joining Aavid. Mr. Wong also serves on the board of directors of the IPC, one of the largest industry associations representing major electronics firms in the U.S. Mr. Wong graduated from the University of Wisconsin, received post-graduate training in engineering and holds an MBA from UCLA and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Law.
Larry Zhang Ph.D., General Manager of Solar Products
Dr. Zhang, joined Aavid in 2008 to lead Aavid’s innovative solar products development and business development. He holds 12 U.S. patents and authored over 10 technical papers. Prior to joining Aavid, Dr. Zhang was president and CEO of Eoplly New Energy Technology where he led significant business growth within a short period of time. His strong technical background and extensive business experience in the solar photovoltaic industry, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit makes him a great addition to the Aavid team. Dr. Zhang received his Ph. D in Materials Science and Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and also holds an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
Brian A. Byrne, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Byrne joined Aavid in April 2000 as its Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Aavid, Brian worked at Jabil Circuits, Inc. as an operations manager. Before joining Jabil, Mr. Byrne served as the Vice President Business Development for Altron Incorporated (subsequently Sanmina Corporation) and its Massachusetts printed circuit assembly division for 3 years. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at Compangnie Des Machines Bull in senior financial and executive positions, such as the General Division Manager of Bull Electronics. Mr. Byrne graduated from Stonehill College with an Accounting degree and received his MBA from Bentley College.
Sukhvinder Kang Ph.D, Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Kang joined Aavid in 2000 as its Chief Technology Officer. Before joining Aavid, Mr. Kang was a senior engineer at IBM's server division which he joined in 1991. He served on the IBM Academy of Technology's team on low temperature cooling of future computer systems. From 1985 to 1991 he was a R&D project engineer at Creare Inc. Mr. Kang has over 20 years of industry experience developing unique thermo-fluid solutions encompassing electronics cooling, space, defense, nuclear and oil exploration applications. He holds over 10 patents, has authored and co-authored over 20 technical papers and has lectured several seminars and professional courses in electronics cooling. Mr. Kang graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology with a bachelor and masters in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Ph. D in Heat Transfer from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
